you don't know me.

today while sorting through old boxes, i happened upon this:

for those of you who assumed that i was the teacher's pet. you assumed wrong. i now have proof that i truly was a rebel without a cause.

NOTE: this was the one and only time i ever had detention...or even was reprimanded at school. it was eighth grade and i am pretty sure it was because i was late for a third time that semester. thanks mr. steen for ruining an almost-perfect track record.

b(earth) day.

yesterday i turned 26. the earth turned 4.567 billion (give or take a few years).

to celebrate my wonderful friend, lisse, and i explored a part of texas that we had never seen before: glen rose, tx.

we started off the day stopping at a church garage sale on the side of the highway. unfortunately the pews were the best and only find.

we then set off to the christian evidence museum. it was more than we could have ever imagined.

this was taken right before an old man with a cane warned me that i might get ran over by "old bones mcgee." referring to himself, of course.

the soundtrack that was almost too good to give up.

this was the only reference to their theories and was hidden behind other framed items. the museum houses the only known human footprint that's been evidenced to have coincided during the same time as the dinosaurs.

dinosaurs. everywhere.

we had finally arrived to dinosaur valley state park. the kid in me (you know, the one that attended museum school summer camp...fact) was filled with excitement.

first footprint sighting!

the claw.

texas can be beautiful. and warm.

friends. this was taken after we found wild onion growing and decided it would be a great idea to eat raw onion. i still think it was a great idea.

yummy birthday shakes with candles and all. so perfect.

thank you lisse and ryan (and lucy and violet) for reminding me that birthdays are worth celebrating.

in the (adult)hood.

being an adult makes moving a full-time task. it also requires a lot more time on the phone and constantly pressing *0, so that i can talk to a human.

ps. i survived the needles.

pps. i miss you.

i made it.

2,221 miles. 10 factory farms. 9 states. 3 days of driving. 2 dreams coming true. 2 snow storms. 1 industrial slaughter house. countless national forests. i made it. i am in texas.

until my life gets a little more exciting (as i would like to spare you of the details of getting pricked with needles), here are some pictures from my trip:

yes. it's true. we happened upon the world's largest ball of twine. the sweet elderly lady in the photo even let me add some twine. i have never felt more american in my entire life.

ps. i miss you.

standard apology.

this has been happening a lot lately:

sorry. and it's not over yet...

all-encompassing.

funk music makes even the most mundane tasks sexy.

this song never gets old.

go ahead. judge me.

ps. packing broke my "y" keyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. oops.

errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrspl.

WHY?! OH WHY?! are my books just now becoming available for me at the library. curse you spl, for waiting until the last week before i leave to make two of my books available that i have been waiting on for more than five months....i'm not even exaggerating this one.

i'm not even kidding that i am contemplating on still checking them out, and shipping them to a friend to return them for me. any volunteers????

cold feet.

though it is a surprisingly chilly spring, that is not why i have cold feet...i have been wearing thick socks.

i am moving in 6 days. what if i became the runaway mover? julia roberts and richard gere would be all about it.
