america or burst.
does anyone else remember this tv show?
it used to be a favorite of mine as a kid. and until today, i had completely forgotten about it.
celebrity crushes.

queen of hearts.
today i have felt like alice from lewis carrol's classic tale, though i haven't been late for anything, and i have not turned into a giant nor shrank to the size of a pea. i haven't been chasing after a rabbit, harassed by a cat or had a tea party with a mad hatter. i think it's just that everything around me seems new and unexplored. never mind the fact i have been surrounded by the same scenery for the past 18 months. it all just seems different today, and i love it.
hooray for new days!

the tacoma aroma.
tonight, i joined some friends as they voyaged down to tacoma for their "third thursday" art walk. i finally got to attend the chihuly glass art museum, and thank goodness it was free, because the bridge leading to the museum was much better than the interior. anyways, i ended up spending my evening in the kids studio making this hat:
don't worry, i am pretty sure that i was the oldest person in the room making a hat. i was also later stopped by a pair of elderly women who loved my hat. in fact, one of them stated that she had recently purchased fabric made with the same pattern and coloring as my hat. it was just another testament of how i really am an 80-year-old.
p.s. never go to a mexican food restaurant with bottomless chips and salsa when you are starving.

let me entertain you.
wednesday night = rent one get one free at scarecrow.
sometimes i wonder what the film connisuiers that work there think of me based on my rental choices. like tonight i chose:
what? i am just going through an old musical phase. don't worry, i already own west side story...
ps...for the record, last week i rented the hudsucker proxy (one of my favorites) and hell house...
any suggestions for next week's rentals? keep in mind, i have more than 100,000 films to choose from, so the more suggestions the better...

abstinance.
i'm abstaining from seeing avatar for two main reasons:
1. i refuse to see a film that degrades the purpose of film, which is to tell a story. if i wanted to see a less-than mediocre story with awesome technology then i would start playing video games.
2. seriously, i do not need to see sigourney weaver save the planet earth for the ummteenth time. but really guys, has she ever been in a movie (besides ghostbusters) where it actually takes place on earth?
now, go ahead, judge me, but you are not going to change my mind on this one. avatar = most overrated film of all time. thank you and good night.

double-take.
doesn't ricky terrance eerily look a lot like michael cera's alter ego in the upcoming film, "youth in revolt?"
Ricky "make the women go mad" Terrance
Francois Dillinger
Ricky
Francois
So does this mean it is a prerequisite that all alter egos have sketchy mustaches?

watch out.
if you happen to be standing next to a large puddle, you may fall prey to my affinity of driving through the large, shallow bodies of water. you can't say i didn't warn you...
ps...i suppose this is something we never grow out of. when we are young, we like to puddle jump, and now we just drive through them...

the other day i forgot i had a google talk number and mass chaos took place. the end.
today i received an unexpected phone call from someone i met briefly last summer, and they remember liking me, or at least enjoying our conversation, so we are getting tea this saturday. fin.

back to the future.
after saying hey to michael j. fox, i have concluded one of these two options for my future (but let's be honest, it will probably change again):
1. mpa program on the east coast (washington dc, hopefully)
2. get my elementary teaching and tesol certification and start traveling the world a year at a time
i think i may go with the latter. both options still provide me with the opportunity to change the world...i know i am one of those idealists who still dreams to change the world...but really guys, i just want to make it a better place...don't you?
